Empower & Heal

I want my patients to be partners in their own healing. I want them to understand how powerful their minds and bodies really are, and how each organ and symptom is part of a larger system. Healing chronic and intractable ailments takes a certain level of sensitivity, which I’ve honed to treat stubborn conditions with gentle methods.

My Mission

About Me

My first degree, a BSc in Nursing awoke my vocation to treat and heal. I trained in Toronto, Canada and gained extensive clinical experience in both Canada and USA specialising in post surgery, mental health and cancer care. I worked in both private clinics and within University Teaching hospitals. In 1997, personal circumstances intervened and I left the Nursing profession.

I migrated to the UK in 2001 and began a successful career working with the UK Telecoms Regulator, Ofcom but I missed working within a clinical setting and in 2008, I decided to return to clinical practice but not to Nursing. I wanted to be able to treat my patients as an integrated whole - physical, spiritual and mental - as opposed to only treating their physical symptoms or disease. During this period I was also undergoing treatment and my NHS consultant recommended Acupuncture as a supplemental and supportive therapy for me. This recommendation introduced me to Chinese Medicine's 2000 year old history and its therapeutic benefits.

Training

In 2010, after experiencing firsthand the positive effects Acupuncture had on my health and wellbeing I started studying for a BSc (Hons) in Chinese Medicine at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, UK. The college has a world renown reputation and is over 15 years old. The institution is known for their integrated approach to Chinese Medicine with special emphasis on 5 Element theory. It is one of the largest providers of acupuncture training in the UK and Europe. The degree is awarded by Kingston University.

Since qualifying in 2013, I have also undertaken specialist training in those areas I have a keen interest - cancer support, pain management, fertility and obstetric support and Paediatric Acupuncture. This ensures I am up to date with the latest conventional treatment protocols such as chemotherapy, radiation, IVF.

Qualifications - LicAc, Dip Paed, MBAcC, RN

I graduated with my License in Acupuncture in October 2013 and I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council. I completed a Diploma in Paediatric Acupuncture in 2017.

My Beliefs

I am a strong believer in giving back to my Community and I try to do it in a way that is sustainable and measurable.

Following the fire at Grenfell Tower, June 2017 I founded with a colleague -Emergency Acupuncture, we provided free Acupuncture treatments in the heart of disaster areas for survivors and residents affected by trauma in 3 different clinics. Our clinics continued to provide free treatments for a year, we were able to do this entirely from donations and fellow volunteer Acupuncturists. We have now passed our clinic onto NADA GB who continue the work we have started.

I volunteer every Tuesday at the Fountain Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. Guildford. An independent charity for cancer patients, their families and carers providing support from the initial diagnosis until treatment finishes and beyond.

I managed a Community Acupuncture project in SW19 from 2013 - 2016 offering Acupuncture at an affordable cost. This clinic has now been closed.
